We zoomed ashore in Muhu tying up at the jetty and went in search of fresh bread, a hot shower using more than 2L of water and a beer. Boarding Muhu from the dock was fun all except for the puncture, which we realised had occured as we motored back to the boat. Another fine effort from 'The Master of Disaster' alias Michael. Fortunately we have inflatable dinghy repair goo and stuff on board unlike at Pittwater. Forward planning is at times extremely useful!!
The picture is of the evil jetty ie the bit with all the poles sticking up.
Sundowners were enjoyed on deck with the Saaremaates looking cheery, it was not just the wine!!
A tasty dinner of pre-cooked quiche was washed down well with a drop of turps. Well not that tasty a bit bland in fact unlike Anne's scrumptious cooking. Woolies will just have to try harder. The turps made it palatable though.
As the only boat in the anchorage North of the jetty we were unworried about our anchor dragging into others and as it was a very calm night this was not a problem anyway.
Sun 1 Aug
Another beautiful sunny day greeted us although Muhu's port pontoon looked a bit floppy. A quick fix of the hole with special goo and a patch before breakfast gave a bit of time for the seal to heal. This time its the beach and not the dock!!
We finally went ashore at 1400hrs for lunch at the resort. The dinner menu looked good (although having not sampled it we cannot vouch for it) but we would not recommend lunch unless you only want a burger and chips. My fish and chips was straight out of the freezer packet (Birdseye perhaps) and Annes's satay chicken was straight out of another packet. It reminds one of Fawlty Towers when if you try to change your order Basil lets you know that chef's just opened the tin, hence no possibility of a change of order. Just as well we did not order a Waldorf Salad as we are sure there would not have been any 'Waldorf's'.
Back on the beach the tide had gone out a bit so it was a 30m lug of Muhu & Brutus to the water. Yes that's Muhu the one furthest from the waters edge. Luckily 2 meaty blokes took pity on us and gave a hand into the water. The anchorage had filled up with 5 other boats when we got back.
Mon 2 Aug
The anchorage became a bit choppy in the morning so we decided to head for Hervey Bay Marina at Urangan. We sailed up the passage intially making 5 kts on the headsail alone a peaceful and pleasant sail in the sunshine. The wind gradually died as we were in the lee of Big Woody Island and our speed dropped to under 2kts so on went the motor for 10 minutes until wind filled the sail again. On watching the big whalewatching cats coming out of Urangan across the short cut, that is only recommended with local knowledge, we felt that the local knowledge was now ours and took the short cut too. With no depth problems encountered we were tying up in the marina at 1400 and Michael berthed Saaremaa unscathed, (another great first for Saaremaa!!).
