Hervey Bay, Urangan, Still.

Thurs 12 Aug 2010

We were all set to head off to Burnett Heads (Bundy) this morning but alas the strong wind warning for Hervey Bay & waters south caused us to change our minds. 30+ knots is not really our cup of tea so we are marooned for another day here in the marina. The sunny weather is back after a couple of misery days.
Where's Saaremaa? Huge prize for spotto!

Tips for eating at the Hervey Bay Boat Club; the dining room opens at 5.30pm and if you want to eat this is the time to get a table because it fills up by 6.15. The alternative is wait until 8.00pm when the dining room has cleared out. It took us 4 goes before we finally sussed this out and managed to get a roast dinner last night. Fortunately we did not have lunch so eating at 5.45 was not too bad for us. Early to bed for the morning getaway.
Where's all the water gone?
Whilst here we got new AGM house batteries (2 x 120 amp/hr) at e very reasonable $670 installed from Skinner Marine Electrical. These new batteries charge up much more quickly than our 6yr old lead/acid ones.
It was probably a good move so as not to have them fail in an out of the way place.

The weather is looking good for our passage up to Burnett Heads tomorrow. So its off to bed for an early rise.

  1. Just been reading your blog. Sounds like you are having a great time with lots more adventures to come. By the way, hadn't you heard about the coffee shop at Gary's Anchorage? The Barista was eaten by the crocodile!!!
